Yes use 4oz butter and 8 oz of powdered sugar plus a little water if you need it to get the right consistency. Helen

Shortening in frosting ? eyuuuuuck , I only use butter .

But careful , once you do that , you may not be able to eat shortening frosting again .

Just do an equal substitution .

      enjoy

      1 stick butter
1 pound box of powdered sugar
      1 t vanilla.

      Beat till smooth.

the thing is, any recipe calling for shortening, substitute butter. Use the same amount.

You can use butter the same as shortening, most recipes call for shortening because its white so the colors you use will be more pure & if you want white frosting it’ll be white instead of off white. Just make sure you use unsalted butter!
